OVERVIEW

Limehard is a Caribbean carnival celebration celebrated in Houston, Texas. Carnival is a Caribbean tradition celebrating the freedom and emancipation of slaves in the islands. It is celebrated every year in spring and summer, the timing is dependent on the preference of each island. Currently the celebration is shown through colorful costumes, live bands, and parades.

EXECUTION

While the tradition of Carnival is celebrated in a variety of islands in the Caribbean, visual references for this event reflect the culture of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The posters feature a stilt walker, called a moko jumbie, which is the symbol of the islands. The icons used emulate popular local jewelry in the culture.
